Bill and Tina Flaherty are deeply committed to animal welfare. At the Bronx Zoo in New York, they stablished the Flaherty Learning Center at the Congo Gorilla Forest.

They recently endowed the Flaherty Comparative Oncology Laboratory (FCOL) at the New York City's prestigious Animal Medical Center. The laboratory, in collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, performs specialized cancer research that has the potential to affect cures for both human and veterinary cancer.

The Flaherthy's are also deeply committed to improving the human condition. Tina and Bill's support fot the Inner-City Scholarship Fund for New York City, as well as Junior Achievement, where both are national board members, is a testament to their dedication to education for young people. Most recently, their love of wit, wisdom, and preservation prompted them to fund the Clementina (Tina) and William E. Flaherty Cultural Centre at the historic Oscar Wilde House in Dublin, Ireland, headquarters for the American College of Dublin.
